My Story
“Suzanne has been recognized as one of the Top Professional Coaches by Coach Foundation.”

What if you realized your family, job, relationships, attitude, beliefs, and behaviors are full of unlimited and positive possibilities? What if you woke up one morning and everything just felt different - you knew exactly what you needed to do, how to do it, and you did it with complete abandonment? What if you knew your purpose, got more done in less time, and made both quick and accurate decisions? What if that could be every day?
Suzanne Schilling is an accredited professional coach, specializing in clergy, their families, as well as congregational leadership teams. With certifications in Leadership, Transitions, and Well-Being, the energy she brings to the table encourages and inspires clients to maximize their potential and successfully traverse this beautiful journey called life. With her zeal for life, action-oriented approach to coaching, along with an encouraging and positive demeanor, she believes everyone is exactly where they need to be and has the inner power to go exactly where they desire.
Being the daughter of a retired Major General in the United States Army has helped shape her work ethic, sense of humor and love of community. Her years on Wall Street as well as being a clergy spouse give her first-hand knowledge of the toll that pressure, stress and anxiety place on clergy, church leaders, families, and relationships.
Suzanne is a coach, teacher, leader, and inspirer. She believes all of us are created for a purpose, and each of us can live into that purpose joyfully and fearlessly. It is neither by accident nor coincidence that you have taken the time to read my story. Ask yourself, “why did I click on this website?” And, then ask yourself, “what’s my next move?”

Life and Leadership Coaching
Life is about choice - choosing how you will show up each day. And here's the thing; how you show up today is not a predictor of how you will show up tomorrow. You get to decide, and you have everything you need to make it happen.
Understanding what kind of leader you are today, is the first step in becoming the leader you want to be tomorrow. Whether a parent, CEO, pastor or small business owner, you are a leader - believe it or not. The question you might consider is "How am I doing as a leader?
Transition and Well-Being Coaching
Transitions are uncomfortable. Transitions are surprising. Transitions are unavoidable. Transitions are a part of life. How do you want your next transition to play out? Because it is coming. Ready or not, transition is just around the corner.
Well-Being encompasses the balancing act and boundary setting between work and play, family and friends, body and mind, spiritual and practical, self and others, acceptance and resistance, support and freedom, giving and taking. How you walk that balance beam and set those boundaries is completely up to you.

Working with Suzanne allowed me to cut through limiting beliefs that were silently running the show. Using incredibly insightful coaching, she held my hand and supported me as I discovered my old programming. Her unwavering belief that I had the answers I needed within me gave me the confidence to trust myself. I found peace in areas where I felt hopeless - work, finances, procrastination, my relationship with my daughter. I began to believe (and still do) that I am capable, strong, and someone worthy of ALL the good things! - Annie D. De León
I had the privilege of having Suzanne as my clergy coach for a year. Meeting with her monthly was a requirement for ordination in the United Methodist Church, but our monthly meetings were not in any way a chore or just another thing to check off the list. Suzanne very quickly ascertained key components of my personality and provided coaching in ways that were extremely effective for me as an individual. She never spoonfed me easy answers, rather she helped me to uncover truths within myself. Working with Suzanne has been one of the most efficient and effective experiences of personal and professional development that I have experienced in my lifetime. I recommend her services wholeheartedly and without any reservations. -Rev. Kara Harvey Chamberlin
"During my first year of “RIOM,” I got a wonderful opportunity, made available for me from our Conference, to have coaching sessions with Suzanne. These sessions were fruitful and life-giving to both my personal life and ministry. Suzanne was open to discussing, listening, and praying about any issues or topics that I could think of and brought into our conversation. She is very knowledgeable, passionate, authentic, and professional in her coaching skills.
Personally, my coaching experience with her was very helpful to know my strength and gain momentum in ministry. During my coaching session, I gained more clarity in my decision-making skills and in creating healthy boundaries in life and ministry. With her expertise and experiences, Suzanne always makes sure to create a safe and non-threatening space where I can freely express my opinion and have a profound and meaningful conversation. In my opinion, these coaching sessions are a wonderful learning and growing platform made available for us from our conference where we could expand our deeper sense of insight and understanding in the areas that we are interested in learning and thrive in ministry. - Rev. SN
Working with Suzanne Schilling through this past year of coaching has been transforming. I have learned to value all that God is doing in every situation, and that emotions and thoughts are not good or bad, right or wrong, just an opportunity to experience how to ebb and flow through catabolic and anabolic levels that best suit our context and support our current situation. Suzanne has opened my heart and mind to the endless possibilities of who we were created to become. Her knowledge, sense of humor, and amazing listening and interpretive skills have provided a rich understanding of my own ministerial gleanings. I have found new courage of conviction and strengthened my faith in the Holy One for a time such as this. Thank you! - Reverend CF
I have thoroughly enjoyed my coaching sessions with Suzanne. As a pastor, it is difficult to find a space in ministry to safely and healthily express thoughts and feelings related to work. Through our sessions together, Suzanne has given me a space to work on myself and process the emotions that emerge from my professional life. Suzanne does an excellent job of asking guiding questions that help me break apart complex dynamics into their constituent parts, focus on one feeling at a time, and come up with a plan of action. I look forward to continuing my coaching sessions with Suzanne! - Rev. ACB
As I entered into the RIOM process I was, to be honest, not that excited to have one more meeting to keep track of. This quickly changed each time I met with Suzanne. She brings a whole new understanding to the conversation. I began to look forward to our talks. What I love most is that she does not solve the issue for you, but simply gives you the tools you need to find the answers for yourself. Each time we met I came not knowing exactly what it was that I wanted to discuss, but after just a few minutes I was opening myself up to all types of possibilities for discussion. It is more than just having a conversation, but I left each time with a new challenge to take on new ways of addressing the issue. I have implemented all of them, and have found myself in a place of peace and calm in the midst of the chaos. Suzanne is a wonderful coach.
Rev. Cindy Nanney, Crowell Memorial and Palm Tree UMC, Lincolnton NC
Suzanne is a fabulous coach who asks the questions necessary to help clients reach their goals. - P.C.

At first, when I was informed that I would have to meet with a coach, I was discouraged. I felt this is another tedious action I must complete to bring me closer to ordination. However, I was wrong because the hour we met did not seem long. Additionally, Suzanne helped me arrive at practical conclusions that would assist me in deriving reasonable and achievable goals. Suzanne listened to me, clarified what I said, and was encouraging and prophetic. It was a blessing that I could have Suzanne as a coach. Rev. SM
Suzanne Schilling is an exceptionally skilled life coach. She is one of the most naturally gifted 'listeners' I have ever known. It is her gift of listening that made her so helpful to me when I was experiencing some of the greatest life challenges I have ever faced. She has repeatedly created an environment of trust, compassion and non-judgment in which we could work together to identify some of the underlying causes of the crisis with which I was struggling. This environment has allowed me to be vulnerable enough to be honest with her, and more importantly, with myself! This honesty, along with Suzanne's insightful questions and promptings, has given me the courage to acknowledge that I am not called to solve all the world's problems. Instead, her direct approach to coaching has been invaluable to me as I attempt to reconnect with the loss of the deep spiritual connection which had previously grounded my life with meaning, purpose and direction. I am so grateful to have Suzanne in my corner, encouraging and equipping me with tools and insights I need to be the very best I can be. I highly recommend Suzanne to anyone who is ready to work on their own issues which are keeping them from fulfilling their life's purpose. - Rev. Sandra R.
Suzanne Schilling, extraordinary coach, gifted listener and compassionate individual...I am incredibly grateful to have experienced all three. Suzanne came into my life (by chance and design) at the right moment. She fanned an almost extinguished spark in such a way that only Suzanne can. Just like a curator, she takes the lovely and sometimes not so lovely images that we verbalize and sacredly holds them to provide the space we need to tell our innermost story. She is beyond equipped with the tools to help anyone tell the story they desperately want to tell. With her coaching, I have become the courageous person I am today. - LaKisha B.
Suzanne's coaching style was optimal in helping me through several major challenges in my life during a very stressful time. She has a unique ability to facilitate trust, while presenting herself as relate-able yet extremely professional. Suzanne ultimately partners with her clients in a way that encourages both results and the willingness to explore new opportunities. - Jennifer B.
When I was first instructed to see a “Life Coach,” I was nervous for the unexpected, as I had never seen a Life Coach previously. However, Suzanne was such a professional from Day One. She guided me through the process, all the while encouraging me to find the answers within myself. The assessments, explorations, and honest insights were a clear way forward for my professional growth, especially within the United Methodist Church. I’m extremely grateful and will revisit my notes as a reminder of what I was able to discover with Suzanne’s help. - Sherri Noble
Suzanne is ready for anything and everything I can possibly toss her way. She's helped me get out of my own way, encouraged me, and walked with me as I maneuver through difficult situations to ultimately reach whichever goal I want to attain. Her compassion and open-hearted spirit make it so easy for me to talk to her - like a wide-open book. I HIGHLY recommend Suzanne for whatever you may be going through! You'll find no one more encouraging. - Adrian K.
Suzanne is even. Suzanne is honest. Suzanne is humorous. Suzanne is fair. And Suzanne always makes you think and feel. She never provides you the 'answer.' She knows you have it within you. I never leave a session without some a-ha moment, some nugget of self-awareness or a new way to think about a situation. Suzanne's innate ability to help you celebrate your 'power,' see your current situation in a new light, added with her willingness to walk with you as you come up with your next move is unsurpassed. She is your best cheerleader! Now, I will admit I was skeptical at first. But dang! Each session has proven extremely powerful! Can't recommend her highly enough. - Keai T.

The coaching experience with Suzanne empowered me to be more confident in my own skin and to make sound decisions based upon my core values. She helped me through various difficulties by asking questions; sometimes affirming, sometimes challenging but always uplifting. And each call contained a special spiritual moment--a word or value of the day--that met me right where I was. I strongly recommend Suzanne to anyone who is looking to grow into who God created them to be with courage and enthusiasm. -Rev. Drew Nix
Life in ministry can be as equally challenging as it is enriching. A ministry leader is passionate about a great many things, not least of which is the spiritual health of others as well as vocational satisfaction. A next level ministry leader will be as self aware as they are generous in spirit to others. Self awareness is where I found myself most in need and Suzanne has been invaluable in the ways in which she has invited me into that space. My sessions with her have helped me grow from having a passive and helpless attitude toward my own vocational satisfaction to a true self advocate. That I believe is one of the greatest and most important gifts that a leader in any context could be given. - Rev. Tom Owens
There are so many things that I could say about my experience of being coached by Suzanne Schilling. I had not worked before with a coach and wasn't sure what to expect. What I appreciate most about Suzanne is her passion for drawing out the very best from everyone she works with. With that passion comes an intense honesty and an innate sense of when to push, prod or pull. Her intelligence, wisdom and humor helped me to discern and follow my own truth. I am so grateful for our work together! - Rev. Carlene W.
Coaching from Suzanne really truly helped me as I was beginning my career in pastoral ministry. Whenever we would begin our sessions, I would rarely have any one thing, or anyone action point, to move forward on. However, by the time we were done, I would usually have several specific things to act upon. These tended to be tasks that I would find quite rewarding and beneficial to both me and my church once they were completed. Furthermore, coaching from Suzanne helped me in my personal life also. For instance, she helped me to establish boundaries that provided a better work/life balance. This was especially true with regard to encouraging me to make the time for physical fitness. And this was also beneficial when I became engaged and eventually married. I look forward to continuing my work with Suzanne. Simply, she helps to assure that the main things remain the main things for me. - Rev. Charles D.
I had several coaching sessions with Suzanne Schilling - my experience was enlightening and positive! With acute listening and very few words she was able to lift the veil on things that needed light shone on them, things I probably already knew but had not come to grips with. During the period of time I was working with Suzanne as my coach, I found various compartments of my life progressing more deliberately as she created a sense of accountability within myself that led to - simply - progress. I highly recommend Suzanne to somebody who is looking for coaching either professionally or on a personal level. She is kind and fair and clear and can help you up your game without ever coming across as judgemental or preachy. Thank you, Suzanne. - Julie Tallman DixonPacifica Real Estate
