Fear is a powerful motivator to do something or not do something. But as strong a driving force as it is, there is a way to rework your relationship with fear.
First, simply accept that fear is part of the human experience as opposed to beating yourself up over being afraid. The time you spend fighting yourself robs you of brain power and other resources to move forward. Acceptance may sound like, “I am experiencing fear in this moment.”
Second, release those unrealistic expectations and shift to showing yourself self-compassion. The act of self-compassion sets the intention to be kind to yourself no matter what happens throughout your day. It could sound something like, “May I be at peace.”

Finally, do something. Determine what is the smallest, baby-est, micro, healthy step you can take to expose yourself to the fear and move forward. Because the most potent remedy to fear is action. You cannot think yourself out of fear. You must ‘do’ yourself out of fear.
