Ask

Kids. Few are shy about asking that fabulous question, “Why?” From the ‘why question,’ they then swiftly move to full-blown queries on…..everything. For anyone who has experienced this beautiful phenomenon, there is little doubt you became exasperated a time or two with the constant inquiries.
The endless questions are how children take an active part in their own learning. It is how they figure out their world – they are seeking information. And while it can be off-putting at times, it develops critical thinking which builds brain-power. And, not to state the obvious, but it’s a way for children to communicate.
And then they grow up. And for many, the questions slow down. And once they enter the world of ‘adult,’ worry takes the place of questions. Opinions take the place of discussion. Ill-tempers take the place of acceptance. Disillusion takes the place of forgiveness.

Next time you find yourself a bit off-balance, consider a little reversion, become child-like and ask questions. Some you might consider are, “What is going on literally and emotionally?” “Why is it affecting me this way?” “What does my response say about me?” “What do I want to do about it?”
