Why????

Been around young kids – yours or anyone else’s? Then you have probably heard the Why? question quite a few times. Maybe even incessantly. Yeah, it can get annoying, but you have to love the curiosity and desire behind that persistent wanting to know.

So, ask yourself, “When did you stop asking, ‘Why?’”

Because here’s the thing. We figure out why we do what we do when we truly understand WHY we want to do it in the first place. That WHY is the driving force that finally has you dive into the deep end and do that big, scary, audacious, incredible, and exciting thing that you’ve always wanted to do.

Like the 5-year-old who just doesn’t stop with the Why? question, we probably should take a cue. We, adults, need to consider asking that very same annoying question to ourselves until we have peeled back the onion and gotten to the truth. We need to keep asking WHY, because each answer to WHY will finally get you to that bottom-line place of why something seems so important to you.

It might go something like this:

I want to take a trip to another country. Why? Because I want to explore another culture. Why? Because the world is so much bigger than the slice that I occupy and I want to experience it. Why? Because I want to have a deeper understanding of others. Why? Because I want to have a better understanding of who I am. Why? Because I never want to stop keep growing. Aaaaaaahhhhh.

I do believe5-year-olds have it going on, for sure!
