Audio vs. Video

There are quite a few ways for us to express whether we are living out what we preach. Some of them:

“If you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.”

“Actions speak louder than words.”

“Practice what you preach.”

“Walk it like you talk it.”

I’d like to add another, courtesy of a friend, “Make sure your audio matches your video.”

This one is hitting me this morning, as I, and fellow members of a rather large community, have received disappointing, unnerving, earth shattering news. And, so I sit in it, at this writing. I sit. Simply sit. And as I sit, I remember, it is essential for me to have my audio and video match…especially during times of disappointing, unnerving, earth shattering news.

So, today, for me, there will not be righteous anger. Because anger is not the way I move through the day. There will not be fear. For fear has never been part of my DNA. Instead, there will be a peace that passes all understanding. There will be nothing but love and a complete trust in something that is bigger than myself. This is what I choose for me. Others will need to choose for themselves. And what each of us chooses will be appropriate.

But for me, I will lean into my authentic self and my values of Community, Fun, Humor, Respect and Truth. It’s the only was I know how to do it. It’s the way for me to make sure my Audio pairs up with my Video.
