Beauty in the Chaos

The leaves are just beginning to change where I live, only a few, but it’s happening. And with the color comes falling leaves. Watching the larger ones swirl their way down to the ground is rather hypnotic – like watching fish swim in a small tank. And then they land, gently, but en masse. In no time at all, folks will be deciding what to do with these dry reminders that Fall is upon us, and Winter is just around the corner.

But here’s the thing, this really is an amazing transformation. Trees actually send the message to their leaves when it is time to go. Through an incredible process the tree begins to ‘cut’ the leaf stem from the branch, and then let’s the wind do the rest of the work. Now that’s about as scientific as I am going to get, but still, how incredible.

So, how’s this for a thought? God, the Universe, your Higher Power, and/or your Intuition sends messages letting you know when it's time to 'go.' But how often do we humans get in the way and not allow a natural 'cutting process?' Do we hold on too long? Are we like those few pesky dead leaves that hang around on trees until Spring? Or...are we willing to allow beauty to shine through, like the red, orange and yellow of Fall. And then let ourselves go to where we are being led, as well as where the wind takes us?

One final thought (apparently watching leaves makes for an introspective me). Falling leaves can feel like too much chaos for some...leaves everywhere. But there is actual beauty in the orchestration of it all. So, the next time the world and/or your life feel chaotic – stop. Take a breath. And ponder where the beauty lies within all the chaos.
