Distractions

So, this post is courtesy of someone who asked for thoughts on the subject matter. You know who you are. LOL
Distractions. And to get a bit more specific: Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and the latest season of The Witcher. They are fast, furious and feisty. They can distract us every day, all day long. These distractions can keep us in a state of inertia. Literally no movement, of any kind – mentally, emotionally, physically. Can I get an “Amen?”
So, how do we open up space in our day with such delicious distractions? Now, keep in mind, this is not about removing yourself from all forms of media…unless of course that is what your heart desires. But how about providing yourself a bit of space to see what it might look like to spend less time in these arenas. It can take shape in multiple forms.
Trial Run – Consider removing your distractions for simply a week.
Baby Steps – And if the Trial run feels like leaping a tall building in a single bound, how about just one distraction for a single 24-hour period.
Accountability – And if it still feels like too much, consider telling someone what you are attempting. But make sure this someone is a positive force for good in your life and not a Debbie Downer. Who knows. Maybe they’ll join you!

For sure, it is way too easy for any of us to be in an almost constant state of distraction. And if this is something you would like less of in your life, you do have options. Consider taking one of them out for a test drive. Who knows. You may find yourself moving on with your life, literally and metaphorically speaking.
