Escape Rooms

In the words of Buddha, “What you dwell upon, you become.” This quote leans into the notion that you are the master of your destiny. It is you who can create your own reality.

Take happiness. It’s probably a fair statement that we all want to be happy; however, we define it. And yet, it’s an emotional state that can feel so elusive at times. And when we aren’t happy, we want to be in that ‘other place.’ Any place other than where we are right now.

So, we find ourselves dwelling on our past or worrying about our future or wishing for a different today. When the only thing we have is today - THIS life – where we are right now.

Life can sometimes feel like one of those escape rooms. You know, the game where you work with a group of players to discover clues, solve various puzzles, and complete tasks in one or more rooms in order to accomplish a goal within a specific amount of time (usually 60 minutes). Allowing yourself to escape from the site of the game. But, in ‘real’ life, there is no escape. The reality remains.

When we don’t like the current reality, it makes sense to try and remove ourselves from it. But, instead of escaping reality, consider creating it. Create a new one, instead. THIS is the life we are here for. The one that we are in this vey second. We owe it to ourselves to live it, however we choose to create it.
