“Feelings….Nothing More Than Feelings”

If you recognize the song title, awesome! If not, that works just as well. The point is that everyone has them – feelings. Some have them on display in all their full glory. Others keep them a bit more sheltered and closer to the vest. Whatever works for you, is what works.
But if you ever question whether you are being a bit too guarded with your emotions, there is a very good chance you are. And if you ever question if you were a bit over the top with your ‘feels,’ you probably were. So, consider these steps:
1. Whenever you feel something, take a minute to process it naturally by sitting with the feeling. Simply acknowledge it.
2. Next name the feeling. Was it anger, boredom, contentment, apathy, love? But don’t over-exaggerate it. Did you really hate the movie, or did it make you uncomfortable? Did you love the meal, or did you just really enjoy it?
3. Respond honestly. Pure and simple.

Remember, we have emotions for a reason, and the range of emotion is limitless. Be truthful with what you are feeling and know that nobody ever died from their feelings.
