For many, there is a genuine belief that the only way to ‘make it’ is to move on. Specifically, if they are ever going to have the career of all careers, they are going to need to re-locate. And quite a few follow that path. And, yes, it provides a bit of an assist with their financial, cultural, relationship, etc. aspirations.

But as I grow more seasoned, I find myself pushing back a bit on that assumption. No doubt, there are instances where this concept is spot on. But for some, maybe not so true.

When we open ourselves up to all the possibilities by simply broadening our view, we can be amazed at the opportunities that abound within our own community, however, we define community. If we go beyond a first glance, we may see that there are more options available than we ever thought possible in our own backyards.

And sometimes that is exactly what is needed to benefit not only us but others, as well. So, remember, you don’t always have to get out in order to go up.
