Grace

When an individual or a group steps on our toes, or worse, does true harm, but down the road recognizes the hurt they created and fostered – what do we do with that? Especially if that individual or group has taken action, over and over again, in both word and deed to atone and apologize.

Sometimes it can feel almost unfasible to honor a true attempt at redemption from someone who has trampled on our values. But it’s not impossible. In fact, if we are willing to inspect our own blind spots, it can prevent other blind spots from getting in our way.

If we are able to release the unrelenting grip on our limiting beliefs and opinions, there is opportunity for growth. When we move through the righteous anger to mercy, we fortify our humanity. Imagine the power behind having a transgressor becoming an advocate and ally. We are better together. All of us. There is a hunger for grace.
