For many, the denial of what you have accomplished or the renunciation of the irrefutable characteristics that make a fabulous you are acts of humility. On this definition, let’s push back a bit.
What if humility was universally accepted as the belief that no matter your own achievements or lovely characteristics, you never felt entitled to special treatment. Period. Instead, each of us would openly rejoice because of what we bring to the party. Everyone would appreciate their contribution, as well as yours, and celebrate each with the same enthusiasm. No one would ever fathom that the gifts they bring to the world allowed them to stand above the rest.
With that definition, your exceptional skill, numerous accolades, and undeniable abilities would be gladly received, and all would be treated with gratitude for their contributions. In turn, humble pie would taste sweet because it would be eaten with pleasure as opposed to being forced upon someone as an act of humiliation.

This new definition of humility is powerful as it shines a bright light on our strengths. All of us. And, if all of us are showcasing our gifts, then no one is left behind.
