Humility

Humble folk. We all know one or two either personally or by reputation. They amaze us with their modest view of their own importance, doing what many consider impossible. They do incredible feats for others and have a way of creating something out of nothing. In my humble opinion (pun intended), first

, healthcare providers and all those on the front lines of this pandemic are wonderful examples.

Modesty is considered a virtue by many - and a waste of a perfectly good celebration of achievement by some. And, since we don’t live in a black and white world, consider this. It really can be both. We stand in awe of those who quietly put others before themselves. We are mystified by their unpretentiousness. And yet many of us have a heckuva time celebrating our own accomplishments. Those things that deserve a high five. And because we don’t celebrate, we are unable to reflect and recognize our own greatness and beauty.

So what is the point? Well, this world is a far greater place due to the unsung heroes. No doubt. The modest individuals who live into their purpose quietly are an example of humanity at its finest. But there comes a time when a celebration is warranted. Maybe not now, but eventually. And, who knows, there may be others who would benefit from joining in on the celebration!
