A common theme that I seem to be running across these days is that people’s angst and anguish are often based on past events that they have yet to release. And here’s the kicker, many readily admit they are not willing to let go of the ‘death grip’ they have on a past event – at least not yet.
In those instances that releasing the past seems ne’er impossible, consider exploring the reason behind the holding on. If you find a reason to continue that tight hold, so be it. It may not be time to release. You will let go when you no longer need to hold on.
Letting go is not the problem. You’re already a champion at letting go of the things that don’t matter. You’ve done it a ba-zillion times before. Becoming aware of something you’d like to let go of but haven’t yet, is a signal that, in some way, for some part of you, that particular something still matters.

Be gentle with yourself. When you’re ready to let go, trust that it will go.
