Lighthouse

Several years ago, my spouse surprised me with a week-long tour of the lighthouses of North Carolina. It was set up a bit like a scavenger hunt, with a hand-made booklet serving as my map. In it were beautifully designed illustrations, full of clues and direction. The memory still brings me joy.
The lighthouse is a tall structure, located by the sea, with a singular purpose – to warn ships of dangerous rocks or steer them into port. It is both guard and guide.
If we are fortunate, we have at least one person serving as our lighthouse. They are the distinct light we need in the foggiest of times. They are our protector in the storms. They are the ones who see us through the long, dark nights.
If you have one, be sure to thank them by paying it forward and becoming another’s lighthouse. You already know how to do it because someone has provided you an excellent example.

If you do not, consider seeking one out. We all need a bit of an assist at times when it comes to maneuvering around craggy cliffs or piloting through rather narrow causeways. And, besides, who doesn’t need a tower of light, shining bright, in their life?
