Luggage

Sometimes the most significant thing we can do for ourselves and others is to get out of the way. Specifically, get out of our own way. Sounds pretty simple, but simple doesn’t necessarily mean easy.

So, what does it mean to get out of the way? Well, the implication is that you set aside your anxieties, doubts, fears and ego. And by doing so, you are able to simply get into the flow of whatever it is that you are hoping to accomplish and ‘Presto!’ you do it.

But here’s the thing. We all bring our ‘stuff’ to almost everything we do. Each of us has our own personalized set of luggage that we haul around all day long. For some, it is a simple carry-on bag. For others, it is the 29-inch hard side spinner case.

But keep in mind - our ’stuff’ is who we are in all its beauty. It is our hopes and dreads, faith and doubt, compassion and envy.

So maybe getting out of your own way is simply sitting with who we are moment to moment, whether it’s easy or challenging. And then deciding from that place, what to do next – take the spinner, carry on or maybe just a small backpack.
