Obligation

We’ve all felt it. Obligation. Dinner with family on the worse possible night of the week. An 8-hour dance recital of your best friend’s child. An uninspiring hour-long meeting that would have sufficed with 10 minutes of conversation. Hopefully, none of these events on your calendar are soul-crushing. But some may be close to it.
So, which responsibilities have you continued to show up for, yet they are more harmful than helpful? Who in your life obligates you for events when you, and possibly others, would be better served if you backed out? What commitments are no longer worthy? And what duties which were previous joys have become current burdens?

If you have a list of one or more. It may be time to reassess. Especially if obligation(s) become your personal prison.
