Our Bodies. Our Minds

Our bodies are amazing works of art, intricate machinations, exquisite in their design. And they are also good listeners. They hear everything your mind says.

Everyday, we get to decide whether to nourish our body with healthy and accepting thoughts or go in the opposite direction and feed our body with guilt-laden, shame inducing thoughts. Again, we get to choose, but society’s noisy and 24x7 messages of what we are not (not smart enough, not thin enough, not loveable enough) seems to be an easier bite for us to swallow.

To stop buying into these unhealthy and less than

truthful messages/meals, consider complimenting yourself. Think of one thing about yourself that is absolutely believable or somewhat believable. Make sure it is something that you recognize yourself doing in the past week. Now, get in front of a mirror and repeat the compliment 3 times.

Yeah, sounds a bit silly, but consider it an experiment. In fact, repeat the compliment 3 times in a row, once a day. When you do this for a week or so, check in with yourself. You may just find that your body is listening to what your mind is saying.
