Pop the Cork

This past weekend was really quite lovely. The weather was perfection. Hit one of my favorite spots for take-out with my most favorite-est person (you know who you are). Drove through parts of the Blue Ridge – too stunning to express adequately. Had a physically distanced, mask wearing dinner with another couple on a back porch. Yes, we sat at our own tables.

The days were full of joy, beauty, love, food, conversation and friendship.

Interestingly enough, there was nothing extravagant in the way of money or time. In fact, pre-COVID-19, the days may have been considered unoriginal, tame or even humdrum.

But what I realized was that even if we were in different times, the weekend could not have played out any better. Each morning was a new opportunity. Each day was a unique gift because it would not be exactly like the one before and there was no guarantee of a tomorrow.

My point is this. If we consciously choose to see whatever beauty may lie ahead and understand that we have complete control over how to approach each day, then, the prospect of the coming 24 hours could be seen as a celebration.

So, pop the cork. It’s a new day!
