Re-Think & Re-Member

Think of all those repetitive things you do on any given day or week. Do you have them? OK. Place them in order of importance. You may want to consider jotting them down at this point unless the list is rather short. Now, create a new mental or literal list, placing them in order based on which ones you enjoy the most to the ones you enjoy the least.

Next step: See which of the high importance items are ones that are also high on your enjoy-o-meter. If there are a few, lucky you. Embrace those babies and do what you can to have them remain a part of your day/week. These suckers ‘spark joy’ and are priceless. Props to Marie Kondo.

For the lower importance items, determine how important it is to do them in the first place. You may realize that you are doing them more out of habit than out of necessity. Or, at the very least, they don’t need to be done as often. Save yourself the precious commodity of time.

Finally, look at the high importance items that don’t get you excited - the ones you may see as drudgery. For each one of these, Re-think how they might be done differently – a different way, different time, different place, etc. Then, take another minute or two to Re-member why you do them and who is affected.

Sometimes, we just need to re-think the How and re-member the Why in order to adjust our outlook.
