Rebel, Rebel

We all have those areas where we consider ourselves quite versed. We know what we know. And we are confident in that knowledge. But then we come across an issue, one that we have experienced before, maybe not exactly, but a lot of the same ingredients are there. So, we think we have it. We know our next move. Until we don’t. For some reason, we cannot seem to find a solution.
It’s so frustrating. You know that you know that you know that you have what it takes to come up with the answer. And yet it feels as though it’s a slow drowning. You’re pulled under by a riptide, but the fighter in you crawls up to break the surface of the water, gasping for air, only to be yanked back down.
How can this be? You’ve been here before in some iteration. It’s familiar territory. What is happening to make it so darned difficult to navigate the circumstances this time around? Absolutely maddening.

How about the next time you find yourself stuck on the obvious, approach it as if you were a first-timer, a beginner. Search out those who think differently than you. Diversity in thought may just be what is required. Hate to be the one to say this (not really), but when we get to the point where we consider ourselves an expert, we get lazy. Cold, hard truth. So, look through a beginner’s lens. Be curious. Fasten your seat belt and break a few of your self-imposed rules. And, most importantly, trust that rebel in you.
