Sweet Compromise - Part 2

So, let’s start off this post with the 1st paragraph of last week’s: Compromise, according to the ever-knowing Google is, “settling a dispute by mutual concession.” But what if the mutual concession is between you and yourself?

Last week was about compromise between 2 individuals/groups. This week let’s stick with self-compromise. And this is not referring to not doing what you want to do because it’s not what someone else/society/a system wants. This is about crafting a compromise between you doing/saying/being A versus you doing/saying/being B.

Whether it’s about dropping a few pounds, communicating effectively, going to bed earlier, working less hours, being more authentic, regular date night with your significant other, letting go of whatever….consider self-comprise as a starting point.

What do I mean, ye say? Well, think of it this way. It’s about that happy medium. Where you can be proud of what you accomplish without sacrificing so much that you wonder, “What was I thinking?” Let’s take losing weight. It would be fabulous to drop 30, but that’s a hard row to hoe – at lease right now. Five pounds makes you feel like, “What’s the point?” So, maybe the self-compromise is 15-20. You even allow yourself a little wiggle room with your new bottom line. As to how you start on the journey of dropping 15-20, well, that’s another conversation. But you get the gist of it. Just something to consider.
