The Animal Kingdom

Thank goodness for our animal friends. Many could be considered the quintessential example of living life. They don’t hold tight to plans they’ve made for the future. They most likely don’t experience self-limiting beliefs. They are free.

Humans, however, are a bit more complicated. We place fictional expectations on ourselves. And, many times, can sleepwalk through life until we hit that bittersweet place we call Rock Bottom. When life feels as though it has completely gone off the rails, we may have no choice but to rebuild.

But before hitting the deep, dark place, take a cue from a few animal friends.

Turtle it up and slow down. You don't have to make most decisions right away. In fact, many times, the mor time you take, the better.

Take a closer look, just like ants. Research suggests that the ant can recognize itself when looking in a mirror. Recognize who you are and stop comparing yourself against others. Know that you are enough, imperfections and all.

One of the most curious animals in the world might just be the African Grey Parrot. Get curious about who you are, about what you have to offer the world, and about what’s deeply and authentically important to you. And if you find something that scares you and excites you at the same time, consider doing just that.

Human beings can certainly consider themselves the top of the food chain, and it might also be argued that listening to the rhythms of our animal friends could be quite enlightening.
