The Real Lesson

I, personally, know of no one who likes to be wrong. Maybe it’s just not in our nature. But a willingness to be wrong can provide a ginormous assist when you are making decisions. Instead of making the goal of decision-making to make the ‘right’ decision, the objective should be to simply take some kind of action. This means you could potentially be wrong.

Here’s the thing: There are going to be pros and cons to just about every decision you make. And just because you select the ‘right’ option still does not guarantee that the choice you made is going to be without its own challenges.

Sounds rather unforgiving, for sure, but here are a few things to keep in mind as you are making decisions:

-

Decisions are rarely binary. There’s usually a whole bunch of middle ground between ‘yes’ and ‘no.’

- Avoid making plans around the outcome until you’ve reached the outcome. Instead, take the journey that is unfolding based on your decision.

- Let your true goal be to learn from every decision you make. With this perspective, the ‘right’ vs. ‘wrong’ conundrum is all but eliminated.
