Unlearning

Anyone who knows me - really knows me - also knows that I have never considered myself an academic. Places of learning were my social playground. Heck, they still are. But, not to worry, enough learning went on to receive a B.S. (so appropriately named for me), some post-graduate courses, three certifications, and accreditation.

All that being said, I do hold learning in high regard. I just don’t always do my best work in a classroom setting. And this subject of learning got me to thinking. First: If you aren’t learning, you aren’t growing. And if you aren’t growing you are dying. Metaphorically and literally. Second: When is it appropriate to unlearn? And this is what came up.

To unlearn the illusions or delusions we have about ourselves, situations, others, the Universe can be uncomfortable, to say the least. But it also sets us free for a much more capacious experience of love, joy, peace, and grace. So, this week you are cordially invited to unlearn any illusions you may have about self, circumstances, community, and beliefs. This invitation is offered in love and hope.
