Viewing from the Valley

If you have ever had the opportunity to hike the Rockies, then you have experienced a slice of the mystical. The mountains in all their majesty not only take your breath away, but they also serve as a beautiful reminder of the cycle of life.

Heading up towards the peak is thrilling, wondrous and just a little bit fabulous. You feel courageous as you battle up, always with an eye on the prize.

Reaching the summit, there is a sense of peace like no other. The world seems ‘right.’ You find yourself standing in awe taking in the surroundings and feeling a penetrating gratitude.

As you traverse down, there is an internal debate of which was more difficult – hiking up or hiking down. Navigating the downward slope is a challenge. It shouldn’t be so arduous. Come on, you’re going down for the love of Pete.

And finally, the valley. There could be melancholy, exhaustion, apprehension. You just had the best day EVER and now it is over. The sun is setting.

But don’t forget to look up. The stars are shining bright. And there is always another day.
