Waiting in the Dark

Now, it’s not just me. Or, gosh, I hope it’s not just me. But many folks are thinking about community right now. How do we keep community alive when it feels as though it is on a respirator? What does this new age of physical/social distancing mean for the activities we take for granted? Talk about a collective learning process when it comes to this most interesting of times.

It is all but guaranteed the way we deal with these times is as varied as each one of us. But here’s something to remember, previous pandemics did not have the advantages that we currently do. Case in point – technology. For those who once considered social media and technology a bane to society; they are now realizing how it is able to bring us together when we are physically apart. Some may even grow closer, via technology, as they navigate this isolation.

And yet. Some still sit in the ‘dark,’ waiting for ‘light.’

Now is an opportune time for the rest of us to experience that ‘darkness’ and remember the importance of community. We now know what isolation feels like.

So, here’s the question for the week: What will you do, after the pandemic has passed, to reach out to those who remain lonely even after the word COVID-19 is a distant memory?
